My Top 10 Best Spots for Valentine's Day Shopping, Self Loving and Eating!

Hello Friends. 2020 was an actual dumpster fire of a year and as a result, many local businesses are STRUGGLING as we enter 2021. I wanted to share my top 10 recommendations for Valentine's Day gifts, yummy eateries and self lovin'! *Also, these are in no particular order, they are all just locally owned, amazing humans with great products and services that deserve your attention.* Here we go!

  1. RASA SPA: Whether you're shopping for yourself or someone else, a spa package is a MUST. It's a rarity, but Deavon and I indulge at Rasa Spa when we get the chance. With locations in Ithaca, Aurora and Watkins Glen. A gift card for later is more than convenient. Their packages are modestly priced and totally customizable. I love the Reverse Classic Package, myself. Bonus Points for also giving access to their tranquility room, Sauna and having complimentary robes, lockers and tea. Check them out here and let me know what you think. (Gift Cards are available.)

  2. ARNOLD'S FLOWER SHOP: Arnold's is under new ownership as of 2018 and the ladies in charge are killin' it! They're constantly bringing local vendors together to create beautiful projects while also carrying local artisans' goods in their store. Their shop on Main Street is all inclusive this Valentine's Day for flowers, chocolates, handmade gifts, cards and cuddly bears. Their Special for 2/14 is a free Stuffed Bear with the purchase of a dozen roses. 🌹 Order now and browse their selection here or by visiting their Facebook Page.

  3. SUNBEAM CANDLES: Eco-friendly and powered by the sun, these beeswax candles are ethically produced and everything your hippie heart desires. With one of a kind molds promoting love, gratitude and equality, this living-wage employer deserves consideration as you're seeking out a gift this Valentine's Day. They offer both aromatherapy and fragrance-free candles. This is my favorite collection. And, if you go quick, there is an offer for 20% OFF Through Feb 8 on select products!

  4. HAZELNUT KITCHEN: Some of my happiest memories early in our love and marriage were our dinners out together. Particularly one Valentine's Day we went to Hazelnut Kitchen. This year, they're encouraging everyone to eat at home with a TO-GO menu for 2. Everything will be fully cooked upon pickup and available to store in the fridge and reheat if needed. The menu has options like "braised short ribs with herb spaetzle" and "rosemary parmesan mushroom risotto with parmesan cheese crisps." Dessert is included as well as 2 courses and tons of add on options such as "cheese & charcuterie" (All locally sourced!) And they're able to accommodate any and all dieatary restrictions. So yeah, I'm drooling!

  5. PRELIMINAIRES CHOCOLAT: This is NOT your father's chocolatier. Deavon and I were enjoying a tour with Experience The Fingerlakes back when life was somewhat normal and were introduced to Preliminaires Chocolat. This gentleman had a large array of crazy flavors and we dove right in. They're fun, the designs are spunky and if you're looking for a little adventure, then I'd totally recommend trying them! If you're into a more traditional chocolate flavor, then check out this deal by Damiani Wine Cellars. Their Valentine's Day special delivers FREE to Ithaca!

  6. PURITY ICE CREAM: Purity Ice Cream is offering a beautiful array of baked goods and frozen delights this weekend for Valentine's Day. Like this Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Ice Cream Pie that says "Happy Valentine's Day!" Be sure to order ahead of time. Pick up only.

  7. JUJU BEAUTY: SELF 👏 CARE 👏 . Let's say it louder for the people in the back. Love yo'self. Treat yo'self. And support a local business while you're at it. You can buy a gift card or go straight to booking a service online. From eyebrows to down south, Justine offers a long list of self care options. #WaxOnWaxOff

  8. HANDWORK, ITHACA'S ARTISAN COOP: I LOVE this shop. They are open and have their Winter 2nds Sale going on right now! From kids' gifts to one of a kind pottery, this coop has something for everyone. Browse online or visit in store. Don't forget a mask! Located on the Ithaca Commons.

  9. CHRISTINE ELIZABETH JEWELRY: Christine designs timeless, delicate pieces that are handmade here in the Fingerlakes. Her collections are available for purchase on her website and they come perfectly packaged and ready for you to gift!

  10. MARU RAMEN: Maybe you're not into fancy-schmancy food, or you prefer something that is guaranteed to be both yummy AND reasonably priced. We recently came across Maru Ramen and this place embodies both of those! Sometimes date night is just praying you can get the kids to bed and order something that shows up before midnight. If that sounds like you, then I'd reccomend our new go-to for sure, the deliciousness from Maru Ramen. Even better, they deliver! I recommend using Ithaca To Go!
